- Judge rules against Harry Potter lexicon – A judge in Manhattan has sided with author J.K. Rowling and ruled against the publication of a Harry Potter encyclopedia created by a fan of the book series.
- Spielberg, studios sued over film’s similarities to Rear Window – A lawsuit filed in Manhattan claims Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures Corp. ripped off the plot from Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 classic Rear Window when they made the movie Disturbia.
- Give us the plan on culture, federal leaders urged – A coalition of Toronto arts groups gathered a who's who of the cultural community at Canada's largest film festival Wednesday to launch a campaign to make the arts an issue in the federal election.
