A public inquiry is long overdue

It seems I’m not the only one growing tired of all the bickering over copyright. Christopher Moore posts to the Creators’ Copyright Coalition a proposal for a public inquiry, which John Degen supports. I’m casting my vote of support to that idea—not only because I’ve been working with the CCC through my work with CARFAC Ontario but because, as you may have gleaned from my recent posts, I don’t think we’re going about this the best way.

XO shipping update

I’m extremely jealous that someone else is reporting an XO laptop received. Thankfully, he was also kind enough to review it! He also provides a link to what looks like an online user manual, which I’ll settle for now until I get my own XO laptop.

Donors from the US have been successful at getting information on their delivery by calling FedEx directly, but no reports of shipment in Canada (and still no ETA from OLPC).

I have also been told to call Donor Services @ 1-800-201-7144 for a confirmation number and status update. It was after 5pm, so I’m not sure if they didn’t answer because the call centre was closed or because the number doesn’t work in Canada. I decided to send an email instead, and hope to receive a response tomorrow.

Update on the update, 8pm: I received an autoresponse from them saying I would receive a reply in 3-5 days.
